Problem

Employers in Kazakhstan — especially small and medium-sized businesses — struggled with fragmented, manual tax payment processes.

  • Small businesses had to navigate complex government portals

  • Large businesses relied on accountants to manually handle batch payments

  • No centralized, mobile-friendly solution existed

UX Strategy

Built two primary flows:

  2. Batch payment (import & verify)

UI Design

Designed over 50 screens for mobile and web

Used progressive disclosure and inline help

Integrated error highlighting to reduce failed transactions

Iteration

Prototypes tested with real business users across 3 segments

Major changes made to how we displayed exemptions and totals

Ensured compliance with national tax rules

What I've learned

Designing for regulatory-heavy domains requires collaboration with legal and compliance from day one. One flow doesn't fit all: segmenting based on business size improved usability dramatically. Error prevention is more valuable than error correction — especially when money is involved
